Everyone Wants to Be Heard

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle”

– Ian Maclaren

half of my life has been spent understanding how absurd life is until it changed everyone and forced them to rethink their habits: continuing the relevance, fixing the broken, and leaving the obsolete even though there will always be a denial that it can still be fixed.

it seems like there is no simple thing that exists in the world. so is listening to people’s stories, which is not as simple as listening and responding. based on what i read in a twitter thread and the comments, the listener has the possibility to drain a lot of energy, feel ill, and become exhausted. after learning about that, life has never been the same.

a quote from my closest friend, “everyone wants to be heard,” still haunts me. that simple thing is something i never thought about before. i wish that i could have thought first, so some of my regrets would not be as many as they are now. if someone asks me about my top ten quotes, then i will write it down as one of them.

that quote opened my eyes to understanding people’s feelings. sometimes what they want is right, but they don’t know how to act, so they need hints from us through our responses. half of it is worse, but this is what is called a process; it always takes time to become a better person.i
